Jason Dasey believes that part of his professional mission is to help out selected charitable organizations where he can: from hosting fund-raisers… to reporting on benevolent events… to contributing behind the scenes.

The Indian Ocean tsunami devastated the coastal regions of several Asian nations in December 2004 when Jason was living in Singapore. In May 2005, he was invited to southern Thailand to film, produce and present a TV feature on a charity rugby tournament for ESPN/STAR Sports. The Phuket International 10’s raised funds for Thai children who were orphaned by the tsunami.

In 2006, Jason joined other media personalities in appearing in a 60 second commercial supporting One Singapore, part of a global charity to raise awareness about the plight of disadvantaged children. Also in Singapore, Jason briefly helped the Cat Welfare Society in their sterilization program of stray cats.

Towards the end of 2006, Jason joined BBC World Service Trust’s Burma project to assist in a series of 20 radio shows, helping oversee a twice-weekly program for Myanmar on health and social issues.

Jason’s love affair with India sees him support Alamelu Children’s Homes, which provides shelter and education to 175 kids and young adults in Tamil Nadu

In 2007 and 2008, Jason conducted ESPN interviews with former Olympic champions Edwin Moses and Nadia Comaneci, members of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation which helps communities around the world.

In his own neighbourhood, Jason gave a personal tour of the ESPN campus to an inner-city teenager from Hartford, Connecticut who was part of a program that nurtures and encourages disadvantaged kids and young adults.

Also in 2007 and 2008, Jason acted in community theatre in Connecticut, appearing in two different productions for the Theatre Guild of Simsbury, including Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.

Among Jason’s upcoming charitable goals is to complete his first full marathon (he’s already run six half marathons) to benefit a worthy cause.
