With 30 years experience, Jason Dasey is an accomplished journalist, writer and editor. From in-depth magazine features to evocative television scripts to informative media releases, he has an impressive background in the written word.
Jason is a prolific web-writer with regular articles complementing his television broadcasts. He is a writer for the popular sports websites, Soccernet and Cricinfo, both for which he also hosts daily web broadcasts, Soccernet SportsCenter. His insightful articles were also widely-read on the ESPN/STAR Sports and CNN-SI websites.
For magazines, Jason’s most recent contributions have been in Asian publications, NewMan, and Expat. He pens a monthly column for Expat, a witty lifestyle magazine which is available in Singapore and Malaysia.
Australia’s oldest newspaper, The Sydney Morning Herald, saw Jason begin his fulltime journalistic career in earnest in 1980. As a young reporter at the Herald, Jason covered police rounds, state politics and entertainment news and sports.
Jason’s biggest scoop as a young journalist came on the day that Australia won the America’s Cup for the first and only time in 1983. After talking his way into the exclusive New York Yacht Club, his insider’s account on a defining day in Australian history was the front-page, lead story on a famous edition of the Sydney Morning Herald.
Once he began his television career, Jason continued to contribute to Fairfax publications and other newspapers, including The Denver Post for which he was an occasional columnist in the late 1990s.
His work as a TV scriptwriter saw Jason write, produce and host the sales and marketing video in 2002 for ESPN/STAR Sports where he became a news icon—literally—after the Asian network launched Desktop Dasey in 2004—Jason’s animated alter-ego who delivered on-line sports updates.
